With a crisp LCD display, a seemingly never-ending combination of looks, and a dependable 1500W heater, the SimpliFire Allusion Edge is one of my favorite linear electric fireplaces. Let’s go over what makes this fireplace stand out!
LCD Display
The LCD main display on the Allusion Edge is one of the best I’ve seen with a crisp and smooth image every time. Lesser fireplaces can look out of focus, have weird proportions and flame shapes, and look like they’re running a few frames per second too slowly. This results in a jittery and fuzzy display that pulls you right out of immersion.
Flame and Color Options
SimpliFire has packed the Allusion edge with an incredible number of aesthetic options. You’re able to change the main flame display, ember bed lighting, overhead lighting, log lighting, and choose from 3 soundscapes to get just the aesthetic to suit your mood. Between all of these options, there are over 4,000 distinct aesthetic combinations. If you include the intensity settings for each option, you’re looking at 12.6 million combinations.
Control Options
The Allusion Edge can be controlled in a few different ways. The Allusion Edge comes standard with a traditional remote control. Buttons are clearly marked, the display is large enough and has a good backlight, and you can program in presets, so you don’t have to manually change every setting all the time.
If you’re into tech or just not into collecting remotes, SimpliFire has a fantastic phone app with the same functionality that’s also able to integrate with your smart home system.
In a pinch, the Allusion Edge also comes standard with onboard touch controls that offer basic functionality, like cycling through flame and heater options.
Heating
Like almost all modern electric fireplaces, the Allusion Edge is equipped with a 120VAC 1500W heater. 240V connection is not an option for this electric fireplace. The 1500W heater is about the equivalent of a typical space heater or hair dryer for comparison. It won’t heat your whole house, but it does a good job taking the chill off the air. If you want the ambience but without the heat, you can just turn the heater off and enjoy the look of the fireplace all year round.
Installation
This is probably one of the easiest fireplaces to install that I have seen. The Allusion Edge is designed to simply slip into an existing 2×6 wall with minimal framing modifications. This makes the fireplace incredibly versatile and well within the reach of DIY (as long as you follow all applicable codes regarding the electrical connection). Our installers had the unit in place, set up, and running in less than an hour.
Bottom Line
The SimpliFire Allusion Edge is easily one of my favorite electric fireplaces. Starting at just under $4K, coming in a variety of widths (50”, 60”, 78”, and 100”) to fit almost any application, and with all the features I just went over, we’re sure it will become one of your favorites too.
